Spirit of the North engages
young people, through the use of the camera, to build bridges
of understanding and to show that the UK workforce is enriched
by the lives of a rich spiritual diversity and practice …
The Spirit of the North exhibition, shows people
from a range of faith traditions at prayer and in their daily
life. The photographs emerged out of discussion with the individuals
of what would represent their faith and their daily lives.
While taking the photographs it became very clear that the
religious lives of these people, and their contributions to
society are profoundly linked.
This work was launched
in 2005 at Saint Ethelburga’s
Church and Reconciliation Centre, Bishopgate, London.
We believe that a considerable contribution is made to our
national life by a rich diversity of people from many different
national and religious backgrounds.
We believe a person’s religious practice affects the
way they live and work and thus the economy of the country
and the quality of community life.
We believe the Arts help us transcend difference and find
commonality
We believe spiritual diversity is a blessing
on this county, not a threat.
